Stay warm and fashionable!

How do you deal with the cold stylishly?

Turtlenecks can be stylish and warm. Wear them under a blazer or your peacoat. Don't forget your scarves, bulky or infinity, they will both keep your neck and face warm and style up any outfit you have on! Worried about your hair on this particular snowy day? Try a slouchy hat on for size. There are so many chic styles to choose from, no head is left out. And don't think because you have short hair, you can't rock a stylish hat! You actually rock it the best!!! Keep your hands warm with a pair of gloves. Match them or don't match them with your scarf, it's up to you..:). And be careful what you put on your feet out there today! I love my heels too but if they are not slip proof, leave them at home today. Opt for a hip pair of boots or a rubber soled shoe. The rubber-soled wedge booties are super sleek and sturdy and won't get trashed in the slush.

Have a safe and warm day!!!

10 Classic Pieces

You could technically live without these, but really, what would be the point?

The boot-cut Jean. Let's think of these always-flattering jeans as our secret discovery! They look great on every body type. You can never go wrong with a pair of these!

The striped-tee. Ok..so it's a French thing, but who cares, we're usually obsessed with anything the French girls wear..:). Atleast I am..and you put your own spin on it!

The army jacket. Mine is my fav go-to jacket, dressed up or down, it's a must have! It's a staple that makes any outfit cooler.

The slouchy cardigan. They are so many different styles of the cardigan that anyone can find one to their liking. It's as easy as anything and great over dresses!

Some sort of booty. The motorcycle boot is popular because you can flip it, jeans, dress or skirt and it makes you look like a chic, badass. But I say just any booty that catches your eye is must!

The peacoat. A crisp, nautical shape that's warm without being bulky. Once again, so many styles and every color of the rainbow in this coat. Have fun with it!

The slipdress. Endlessly versatile, it's takes on your personality when you accessorize your own way. Cardigan, cropped leather jacket, lots of jewelry, flats or heels, have fun with this dress.

The trench. My fav!!! Put it on and you instantly become the sophisticated well-dressed girl! Everyone, and I mean everyone should own a trench!!

The ballet flat. If you do not love wearing heels or need an occasional break, flats are the way to go. They are pretty, comfy, and very versatile. FYI..Target has just put out their hot spring flats, check them out, you'll go crazy!!

A plain or plaid button-down. Boyishly preppy, yes, but not too boyish and not too preppy. Another piece that can make your casual day a little stylish. And a cardi or jacket, heels, or flats and you are set.

Have fun with all of these! And remember, you don't have to spend a fortune, Target, Kohls, Jc Penney, Walmart, Forever 21, and many other stores have these items for everyones budget!!

Leggings/Jeggings?

So the other day I had someone ask me how to wear the leggings/jeggings trend? Now there is so much controversy around those two items of clothing and I understand every argument, but I am going to tell you how to pull it off if you have an hourglass figure, because that's seems to be the biggest issue! You can wear this trend if you do it right. What's right, you ask? Try playing with tailored pieces that have longer silhouettes, like a blazer and button-down. Or pair a long cardigan with a waist-defining belt. The belt breaks up the volume on top, and the length provides just the right amount of coverage.

For a smaller frame, you can actually wear something a bit more form-fitting and pull it off.

If you follow my lead here, then you will be fine in a pair of leggings or jeggings with no problems at all!

Looking around

So I'm sitting at the rec center reading my Instyle and People Stylewatch magazines while my daughter does her gymnastics class. As I look around the waiting area, I think to myself, does no one care what they look like anymore?? I know I am in Colorado and the ground is covered in slushy snow but that is not an excuse to just leave the house looking like you just hopped out of bed and ran out the door!! I guess I look like an outsider with my fashionable choice today.. Ok..I'm sorry..there is one gal that has on a nice coat and lipstick and actually did her hair..:). Maybe I sound kind of snobby but I just don't understand women these days! We complain about being stressed and depressed but don't do a thing about it!! It actually starts with you!! A little self confidence goes a long way. Feel good by looking good, it's a start. If you just start by styling your hair and putting on some gloss, then do it!! Otherwise, you will be in that down stuper forever!

So come on ladies, let's start caring about ourselves!!! I guarantee you will feel a difference!!

Lazy days

We all have them...those days where you get up and can't even imagine having to get dressed for the day! In my position, I don't wear sweats outside the house unless I am going to the gym or running outside to get my paper..:). But that's just me. On these types of days, like I'm having today, you can still be stylish and not be over the top. Grab your favorite, go to pair of denim, a tank and cardigan. Easy, right??!! Add a simple necklace and pair of earrings and you are set. You can dress this up a bit with a chic coat and your choice of shoes. And finish it off with a smile, it goes a long way!!

What’s hot for 2011!!

So the jury is still out, because the year is so young..but here’s whats hot right now!!!!  And since we are still cold in Colorado, I will just stick with the hot winter wear!

Faux fur is so hot right now!  I was a little scared of this one at first, until I bought my first faux fur vest.  Its great!  Its very chic and dresses up a pair of jeans in seconds.  Whether its a vest, jacket, gloves with faux detail, or a neck wrap, try it out, it’s fun!

Sweaters!  Chunky, belted, long cardi’s, or tunics.  Make sure you are rockin’ all of these styles of sweaters.  They look great on everyone!

Blazers! Velvet, tweed, corduroy, or your basic black boyfriend blazer.  Super hot with jeans or over a cute dress with hot leggings or tights.  And don’t be afraid of color!  Velvet and corduroy come in several different shades.

Sequin!  Hot, hot , hot!!  With everything!  Dressed up or down, it's a great look!  Out with jeans and a hot pair of booties, or throw one of your blazers over it and you’ve got it made!  Sequin is on everything, from your tanks and tees, to your handbags and hats.  I wear it everywhere and feel fab!

I guess I will stop here for now because I would like to get dressed and head out for the day!  But tune in the next few days on more hot fashion for winter 2011!  I got get out and do more research…:0)  Stay warm CO!!
