Try something new... Be daring!!!

As I sit here at my daughters dental appointment, I am blogging and watching her at the same time.  But I started think about how I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried two new trends this week.

The first one being red lipstick.  Everyone, and I mean everyone that knows me, knows that I am a "beach bronze" Mary Kay gloss loving gal!!  I haven't put anything else on my lips for the past two almost three years!  This gloss has been so good to me, wearing it for casual days and dressing up for a night out.  But I love the look of red lipstick on celebs, like Rihanna, BeyoncĂ©, even JLO!  The key is finding the right shade of red for you!  So....I went to the Mac counter at Nordstrom and explained my dilemma to the girls and they found the perfect red for me!  I freaked out when I first saw, because like I said before I have not had a color that vivid on my lips since high school and it didn't look good then!  I really had to adjust to the new look, and it is a new look, even my daughter thought it made me look different but in a good way!  When I got home I asked my always honest ( maybe too honest, sometimes) hubby what he thought about the new color.  He loved it, not on his face but he loved it!  So I will definitely be trying this red out a few times to spice up my look from time to time!!

My second step out of my norm are these fabulous leopard print sunglasses I scored at Zumiez, while shopping with my 16 year old son!  If you all remember a couple of years back, I blogged about sunglasses and how to purchase the right ones for your face shape.  Since My face is an oval shape, skies the limit on the different shapes and sizes I can wear. I tried them on and I loved them right away!!  And my son thought I looked cool, so I guess that's a plus..:0).  But the main thing here is that you love them, despite what anyone else says.  It you don't feel comfortable, it shows and that's not a good look on anybody!  These sunglasses are chic and I love the edgy look they add to my outfit!

Don't be afraid to try new things!!  You never know, it may look fabulous!!!

Dress to impress yourself!

People don't realize how hard it is too blog day to day!  You have to find things to write about that are interesting to others as well as staying true to yourself.  Once you find that balance, it's a piece of cake but it's not easy to do!  I try to find things that help, encourage, and enlighten you all to want to have confidence in how you look everyday.  I promise you, if you look good, you feel good!  Make sure you take pride in what you put on your body, and do that by standing tall, smiling, and knowing you are ready to take on the world.  I wasn't ready for the world today but I made sure I looked like I did!!

Leather vest... Mishap!!

So....I've been searching for a leather vest for sometime now.  I'm very picky about the way I want it to look and feel, so I've been taking my time with purchasing one.  And then..... I finally found what I was looking for at JCP and it was on clearance!!  Score!!   As I searched for the medium I couldn't find one so I bought the large.  When I got home and tried it on, it's too big and I was very sad..:(   I went back  to JCP to find a medium, thinking to myself..maybe someone returned one and needs the large!! Not likely, but it's worth a try!!  I was unsuccessful in my search, so I went to the counter to do the dreaded return (I hate returning things).  Anyways, as I stood there with my sad face, the cashier asked me if I wanted her to look at JCP online for the medium; me getting all excited because I forgot this was an option, shouted, Yes Please!!!  And jackpot, a medium found and ordered at the same exact price of $17 plus the change!  I was beside myself in excitement knowing I was going to actually have his vest as a part of my wardrobe!!  I received the phone call that it had arrived at JCP, so ofcourse I rushed right over to pick it up and try it on immediately!!  It's a perfect fit and I love it!!!

The reason I am blogging about this today's too inform you all about making qwik decisions when it comes to shopping.  I knew that leather vest was going to be too big but I just couldn't walk away because I wanted it so badly!!  I always say go shopping when you have the time to take in the fitting room trying on your choices.  Then you can see it, feel it, and make sure you like it!

Here's a picture of the vest:

Can't wait to post pics when I wear it!!  Happy shopping!

Spring Season: 5 Key Pieces!

Are you looking for a whole new Spring look?  Well, let's do it!  These 5 key pieces will help you accomplish that!!

Believe me, I know it is hard for some us to get into spring mode when we still have snow on the ground or it's Brrr...cold outside.  But, while we are inside, hiding out, staying cozy here's a little task for you!  Now, depending on the size of your wardrobe, will tell you the amount of time you need to set aside for this fun task.  I split mine up into a couple of days, during the day while my kiddos are at school.  Now if you are a working mama, you can set time aside on the weekends, or make it a fun night, with wine and music, after the kiddos go to bed.  That's, when I do my best work...;)  Ok, back to the topic at hand!  I am going to share with you my top 5 pieces of clothing that you should have in your closet for Spring 2014.  These wardrobe stunners will make you feel fresh and fashionable, easily!

Let's get started!!

 #1
Denim Jacket

A denim jacket will carry you through a lifetime, in my opinion!  If you pick out just the right one, you will wear it every season.  For me, Spring is a stand-out season for the denim jacket because it is the key piece to your wardrobe.  It will make everything look chic.  Throw it over your maxi dress or tank with a flowy, floral skirt.  It will pull everything together in a way that makes everyone say,
"Yep..she look great!"
Use fashion magazines, fashion blogs, or the good old TV, and see all the numerous looks of the denim jacket!

#2
Wedges

Everyone that knows me, knows that I love my heels.  They are a part of me, my everyday life, and I feel lost without them!  Now that's probably a bit dramatic, but kind of true in a way. Wedges on the other hand are the heels you can wear everyday, all day and not complain about your feet hurting!!  Everyone should have gotten out of there seats and shouted, "Hell Yeah" to that one!!
They are easy to buy, many options to choose from, and all of them just as fab as the next!  Slip them on with your jeans (cropped, skinny, wide leg, or bootcut), a dress, skirt, shorts, even a tailored suit for work.
But, please, please, please!!! (A little James Brown for you all!)
Get your Pedi (pedicure) right first!  There is nothing worse than seeing some jacked up toes in a fabulous pair of wedges! Click here for pedicure ideas: http://blog.birchbox.com.

#3
 Florals

Would it even be spring without blooms?  Flowers in the house, your garden , and on you in some way, shape, or form!  Florals are huge every spring and you can wear them however you like.  My favorite new piece for my spring wardrobe is a floral blazer I picked up on sale at Forever 21 at the end of season sales last year.  It was a score indeed, because I only paid $15 for it!
Starting small may be the case for some; with a scarf, belt, shoes, or sunglasses added to your outfit. Or, make it a full bloom with a dress or a pair of cropped pants. Whatever you choose, have fun with it, they're flowers and they are not scary!  Here are several different ways to rock florals this spring and be damn good at it!

#4
Leather Skirt

OMG!!  When I bought my first faux leather skirt, I couldn't wait to get home and style it with everything in my closet!  And when you find that perfect one, which in my case was an A-line, right above the knee score from JCP, you will know the feeling!  I am posting pictures of black skirts, but if you are a bold fashionista be daring and try colored leather too!!

And last, but not least, my #5 top Key Piece
Maxi Dress or Skirt

Whether you are tall, short, slender or curvy, every woman looks good in a maxi dress.  It's all in the length, which is usually the challenge for most.  It should sweep right across the top of your toes, showing off that gorgeous pedi. A maxi dress is easy to wear for several reasons, I will touch on a few.  It is effortlessly, fashionable because you can just put it on by itself, throw your denim jacket on top, add a chic scarf and run out the door.  Easy enough, right?  Depending on the length of your maxi, you can wear a pair of cute flat sandals or jazz it up with a pair of wedges.  However you choose to wear your maxi will be up to you and I am sure it will be fabulous!

I hope I helped some of you get going on that spring wardrobe.  I will be back with some more Spring fashion tips.

It's that time!!! Fashionmom is letting it all out!!!!

Fashion mom on the go is about me, living in Broomfield , Colorado where this is hardly any care about fashion.  Then there's me, dressed to the nines everyday just to go to Target or volunteer at my daughters school.  I've had several conversations with different moms here and what I hear the most is, there's no time to get ready after dealing with the kids, or I just don't care.  Now, that's what I don't understand.  There's always time to pull yourself together!!  Always!!  I am not going to call people out, but come on.. You should definitely look different from the 7am bus top look to picking up at 3pm.  At least comb your hair or throw a hat on..:0). Anyways, I want to let you all know that I am on a mission to make the women of Broomfield more fashionable, and here's how!!!!!

We have to start with your wardrobe!  It's called a wardrobe edit and I am sure you all need it..:). We need to pick apart your closet and see what you have and don't have.  With Spring right around the corner, it's the perfect time!  I can help you get all of the closet staples you need to create an amazing, fun, fabulous, flirty, cute and casual outfits for everyday wear, with no fuss.

And I'd like to leave you all with this thought... You should care about how you look all the time.  It's not for anyone but you, and your hubby, because he will definitely appreciate it!!  But back to you..  It will definitely lift your spirits if you are feeling down, make you happy when you're feeling sad, and make you feel sassy when your feeling drab!!  So come on ladies, let's all be fashionable moms!!
